About Us

Lina Wang serves as Vice President, Finance at Ocgrow. She is scaling our business on a global level, defining our overall financial and tax strategy; driving sustained, profitable growth; and securing new business opportunities. Lina leads Ocgrow’s financial, tax, accounting, & corporate development functions.

Prior to joining Ocgrow, Lina had worked as an auditor at Deloitte Touche Tohmatsu Limited and as a senior tax accountant in other several Canadian accounting firms, where she focused on key financial and tax strategies.

Lina graduated with a MEc and a BA in Finance from Central University of Finance and Economics in Beijing and gained professional accounting designations in both Canada and US.

As VP Construction Michael oversees all aspects of Ocgrow’s real estate design and construction.

Michael has spent his 30 plus year career with a number of Construction Management firms in a variety of roles from estimating and pre-construction to senior management.  He’s been involved in many throughout Calgary and Southern Alberta, & found that the most rewarding and successful projects were those where a construction professional was involved early as part of a collaborative team. In this way, all team members are driven to deliver value to the process.  He always looks for innovative and cost effective solutions to construction challenges.

Michael holds a Civil Engineering degree from the University of Alberta.  He has served on several boards including Heritage Park Society, Calgary Construction Association, Friends of Fish Creek Park Society and the Jeunesse Classique Ballet Society.

Melanie Clarance brings a strong blend of business and scientific acumen, an intense work ethic and seasoned strategic expertise to her Venture Partner role at Ocgrow Ventures.

Melanie has a special interest in helping to scale growth of the most promising impact investment young companies specifically in the sectors addressing climate change and longevity, as well as that ultimate wealth gravitational asset class of real estate.

When a career transition opportunity presented itself after two fulfilling decades of veterinary medicine practice, Melanie took the leap into Investment Management. Melanie ran the Vancouver office of the Canadian arm of the prestigious, Geneva-based, 200 year old Private Bank, PICTET & Cie. Through PICTET, Melanie received specialized Swiss Private Banking training in Geneva, Zurich, London, Bahamas, Montreal and Hong Kong. After working for two more world renown Swiss banks and PwC, Melanie fused her learned knowledge of investments and science/medicine together, focusing on capital raises and other facets of corporate finance for life sciences, medical devices, cleantech and renewable energy start-ups. For several years, Melanie was CEO of her own exempt market dealer, leading and actively participating in investment banking deals in private capital markets. She still maintains her securities license and her global reach.

As Development Associate Lucas manages a wide range of development approval process for various projects at Ocgrow, to effectively liaison with all stakeholders at early stage, and also works collaboratively with the Ocgrow’s Sales & Marketing teams to ensure long term success.

Ambitious and creative, Lucas brings forward a well-rounded wealth of knowledge in real estate from years in development, leasing and property management. Lucas is not afraid to take a data-driven approach to problem solving and fosters a collaborative and fun work environment. For Lucas, the thought of taking intangible ideas and turning them into tangible assets is exciting and captivating.

Lucas holds a Bachelor of Commerce Degree from the University of Calgary, and has taken specialized courses on Development & Urbanization, Investment & Analysis and Land Development & Planning.
